for everyone

This lovely heart is a design by Teresa Wood and she kindly shared it with the Online Tatting Class on Monday.  This semester the main topic will be Block Tatting.  You can find the information about how to make this technique here.  The pattern of the heart can be found at the Class site and on Teresa's blog.  The long threads I left them so mom can sew it to a bag or shirt.

In combination with the heart I made mom's name using Teri Dusenbury's pattern of the alphabet with a butterfly.  I also left long ends so it's easier to sew but I did a little of PSP and erased the ends.    Just for fun.  lol  They're n ot very big, under 2 inches each one.

The thread is El Beida #12 is a very bright pink, almost fushia.

Do you go to a lot of craft shows or keep everything?

Most of it goes to family and friends. But from time to time I do custom orders and used to sell some at a friend's shop. I'm thinking in getting the Artisan License of PR so I can sell things at fairs there. But people don't buy too much. People are preferring the cheap labor and/or machine made lace. The eternal fight of price over quality...

I know what you mean. That's one of the many reasons why I like being able to make things. Because there are a lot of times when the only way I can afford the quality I want is to make it myself. It upsets me though when I people make comments about me wasting my time making things, because you can just go to walmart and buy it for half the price and non of the effort. (the idea I actually enjoy it is beyond them) Then when I point out how much better quality the stuff is that I make compared to what you can buy. They poo poo me and say "who cares?!" Well I care! We are such a disposable society! It's terrible!

Asalam Alaikum
Sis those are so cool. I hate to ask but can you make some of those with my kids names. Ali and Omar. I can have my sister in law come pick them up from you. Then when I get them I can have them put on sweaters. I think that's what you can do with them right?? If possible one done in read and the other in blue. If you can do it let me know. If you don't want to that's cool =)
