Blog EntryTatted Doilies for ExchangeFeb 25, '08 8:09 AM
for everyone

I joined an exchange.  It's been a long time that I don't do exchanges, mostly because the postal service here in Egypt is so bad.   So now that I'll travel to PR I decided to join again the exchanges 'cause I can mail them from there easily and without the worries of the package been open or lost in the Twilight Zone.

So I made the one above but the chains still need some tweaking.  Some of them overlap and I had to steam it to lay flat because it was cupping a little.  I think I need to work with my picots.  The joining ones are like "disappearing", each time are smaller and smaller.  I still need to hide the ends of that one.

This one I just finished it and steam it.  The pattern is from Iris Niebach's book Tatted Doilies.  It's a lovely book.  This one is called Nora.  I used cotton perle #8 in raspberry and white and it measures 6 1/2 inches.

I have 2 partners and I think I'll repeat this one using other colors for the other partner.

Hmm...  One of the partners mentioned that she likes cool colors.  What colors are cool?

Wow! Truly speaking, I can only enjoy the beauty of these but don't quite know the details as I don't do tatting. Not the crafty type, but love to enjoy all the good things.
Thanks for sharing, Wally! Hugs to you!!

I really love the second doily and I went searching for the book on her site, but couldn't find it. Maybe it was an older book? Colors are nice. Good job as always!

I think you can find the book in Handy Hands and also Nancy from Be-Stitched has it. This is the cover of the book:

Don't know how I missed these, but I really LOVE that second one!!!! Iris creates such beautiful tatted patterns. Some day I hope to get some of her books.
