Blog EntryMotif 17 - AquamarineMar 28, '08 2:06 PM
for everyone

Today I made this flower to continue with the 25 Motif Challenge.  I'm trying to catch up in this one.  The flower is easy to make.  There's only 1 ring and it's in the center, the rest is made with chains.  I called Aquamarine because the petals looks like little seashells.    The pattern for this one will come later also and will be on my web site.

I used Coats Dual Duty (T3) in White.  I never worked with this thread before.  Naida got it for me like 2 weeks ago, in white and royal blue.  The thread is a polyester/cotton mix and it's not so bad to work with.  The only thing that is a little annoying is that the thread's twist is altered (too tight or too loose) when doing big rings or long chains and I have to "drop" the shuttle or the work to get the correct twist back.  I "walk" the shuttles when filling them, so I'm not adding twist to the thread and also I "walk" the ball when working, but the twist problem continues.  Anyway, the final result is a crisp motif and I like it.  The thread is cheap and comes in several colors.  I think I'll get more colors and play with it, may be using another thread as a core.  It tat's like a #50.

I like it! It looks like each section of three blossoms out on it's own. Pretty and I will have to try this one myself!

I had a thread like that I used for the edge of a tablecloth, the twisting drove me up the wall. I still have the leftovers just sitting here it is such a pretty blue I hate not to use it. Good news is I have sort of worked out a few tatting stitches, must say not as even as yours yet though H-e-a-p-s of room for improvment.

I have a late question on this motif. Are each section of 3 connected to the next one or are they separate from each other? I hope you understand my question!

They are all separate like petals. :-)

Thanks Wally, If in doubt ask, that is what I was always taught. I hate to do something when in doubt! Thanks, Barbara
