for everyone

I forgot to add this last week.  I made it for mom and gave it to her Sunday.  The hanky has a little butterfly over one of the flowers and a edging from the book "Every Woman's Complete Guide to Tatting", a reprint of Norma Benporath's book edited by Barbara Foster (Handy Hands).  It's a great book!

The thread used in this hanky is Olympus (from Japan) #30.  It ruffles a little so the scan didn't give justice to the beautiful undulation of the edging.  Mom loved it and she'll happily carry it every where in her purse.    This is the 2nd hanky I do for her.  I made one with a very ethereal edge in Mignonette Tatting.  Mom save it somewhere.  I'll ask her to to take it out and scan it.  Hankies are so beautiful but I get pretty bore soon because you have to repeat over and over the same pattern.  I'm making another hanky and will finish it soon if my hands are not sweaty.  It's a finer thread and with the heat and sweat I can't close the tiny rings well so it's taking a long time to finish.

I love this hanky. So vintage looking and cool. IT's the kinda thing I hit the antique stores for when I want some vintage linens. (complete with tatted edgings, of course)

This brings back memories of all the hankies I had made for my mother. She never went anywhere with out one and loved fine linen with a crocheted edge. I imagine she loved it as much as mum used to. I still have the first hankie my Aunt made for me 22 years ago.

A very pretty hanky. I have only done one and will have to try and find it and add that to my collection of stuff. I also have a long piece, I think it was a yard and a half, that I did for the County Fair her in Wisconsin and could probably find a way to show that also. You always do such nice work Wally.

I once made 5 yards of edging for a baby blanket. Still have it unattached. I didn't made the blanket because the baby die before I was able to finish it. I saved it for when another baby in the family comes.
